Started 12 years ago by an assistant pub manager John Mansfield, the Eagle and Child Beer Festival has turned into a legendary local event. A marquee on the Croquet Lawn houses the beer and cider on scaffolding along one side. Most are gravity fed with some of the top sellers on hand pull. Food is available all the time in the form of a BBQ and hog roast. Trade continues as usual in the pub with a more limited menu.
