Sue Clement-Evans - General Manager

Having worked my way through from Reception, to Duty Management and Sales Office Co-ordination, and then Deputy General Management, I joined the team at The Racquet Club Hotel from the beginning - before there were carpets and lights!

Dealing with most of the wedding enquiries I have been able to continue my passion of hosting and planning weddings for our guests. I enjoy the diversity of the events areas in the club, and whilst this is where my main passion is, heading the team of professional food and beverage staff, the daily challenges of running a city centre restaurant and Boutique Hotel gives me the passion to work in this industry.

The thing I enjoy most about working at the Racquet Club Hotel, is the diversity and challenges every day brings, the different events we host, and requirements of our customers makes every day different.


Matthew Gough - Deputy Manager

I have been part of the team for nearly five years. During this time I have looked after a wide variety of events from a shadow cabinet meeting luncheon in our private dining room to Christmas functions and weddings for up to 250 guests.

I find the Racquet Club a vibrant and interesting place to work, as one day to the next can be completely different, due to the varying requirements of our broad clientele and range of services we offer. I enjoy the bustle of the busy restaurant with my colleague Youhann at lunch, and take great satisfaction from organising events, small or large, from meeting new people and establishing their vision through to delivering the event.

Robert Ferguson - Assistant Manager

I joined the team after graduating from JMU in 2007. During this time I have been working throughout the business, developing our systems and implementing standards. 

My primary focus has been the restaurant however I am highly involved with the salling and running of wedding receptions.  I really look forward to seeing these events through to completion, it is nice to be responsible for someone’s special event, and I know that we have a great team in place to run the events.  I have also taken on a large marketing role for the company which I truly enjoy.

I enjoy working at the Racquet Club Hotel, my diverse role enables me to continue to develop my skills, we have so many different areas to manage every day is a different  challenge.

Youhann Raffo - Ziba Head Waiter

Working just lunch’s enables Youhann to be the face of Ziba Restaurant. Well known in the business community, many of our customers know Youhann, and come to see him as much as to come to dine in our restaurant Ziba. Youhann has worked at the club for 5 years and is a welcome face for all our guests. He is the "Mario" of the Restaurant Industry.
