Welcome to the Home Farm Shop

The Home Farm Shop at the Eagle & Child, Bispham Green opened in August 2008 in a barn adjacent to the pub but in the heart of the family farm.

The Ainscough family have been farming around Parbold for 200 years, being a part of the Lancashire farming scene milling wheat in Burscough and making animal feed in Parbold until the mid 1960’s.

The farm extends to 1600 acres and turned organic in 2000, growing oats, feed beans and lots of grass and clover in rotation with 4 herds of pedigree British beef breeds : Red Polls, Lincoln Reds, Aberdeen Angus and Belted Galloways.

The Home Farm shop sells this beef which is killed in Wigan and hung in the chillers at the Eagle & Child for at least 21 days. Organic Lamb is sourced in Cumbria from Matson Ground at Bowness and Mansergh Hall at Kirkby Lonsdale, who are also supplying organic pork.

In addition, the shop sells vegetables, organic fruit and veg from Geilty’s in nearby Aughton and a selection of non organic vegetables from local growers in nearby Tarleton and Hesketh Bank (the centre of the UK vegetable and salad industry).

A large wine shop has been established using the buying skills of the associated restaurant business to find a selection of the best from several suppliers from around the world. Organic wine is a speciality to suit all tastes and pockets.

The Home Farm kitchen makes a range of soups and salads together with ready meals and cakes.
